THE JACK DEMPSEY UNITY FUND

We have shared our tears, our pain, memories of those we lost and the sorrows as we have buried our coworkers, our friends and our families. We are a brotherhood and sisterhood that share an unbreakable bond, yet we are broken.

The construction industry is the backbone of infrastructure and economic development, yet we face significant challenges when it comes to substance use and mental health. Sadly, as it stands the construction industry has one of highest rates of death by overdose and death by suicide. Shockingly, 33% of individuals in the industry leave treatment prematurely. A major obstacle to completing treatment is the pressing need to return to work, a harsh reality familiar to many in construction, because in this industry, no work means no pay. The pressure to return to a job too soon undermines recovery efforts, increases relapse rates, and places an unsustainable burden on employers and families.

In response to these critical issues, we have established the Jack Dempsey Unity Fund. This fund will provide scholarships to members undergoing treatment and financial support, ensuring they receive comprehensive care.
