The problems stemming from alcohol abuse are addressed every April with Alcohol Awareness Month.  It began in 1987 in an effort to reach the American public with information about the disease of alcoholism, which is a treatable disease capable of recovery.

Many communities are participating in the National “Reach Out Now” Initiative Program, which discusses the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and how it effects our youth and their families.  For more information on “Reach Out Now” is available at: www.toosmarttostart.samhsa.gov
